A visit to Farnborough
Nestled just 35 minutes from London in leafy Hampshire, Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre offers over 20,000 SQM of versatile indoor event space. Whether you’re hosting a global convention, trade show, conference or awards ceremony, Farnborough is a modern event space to consider.
The flagship Hall 1 offers a column free, open plan space which can seat up to 4500 Theatre style or 2500 for large awards ceremony, with plenty of additional breakout spaces & supporting rooms for your event.
Farnborough International also has over 3500 free onsite car parking spaces and is located a short drive from Farnborough Main Train Station, only 35 minutes from London, so a great option to consider if you are looking for something not far outside of the capital.
Sustainability & Innovation
Farnborough isn’t just about scale — it’s about responsibility and future thinking & sustainability is at the forefront of everything they do.
Under its Destination Zero initiative, the venue has committed to sustainable operations:
- A recent £1 million upgrade to the solar arrays on Hall 1 means the building can generate enough energy to power itself (and parts of its events) — meeting roughly 30% of the site’s annual electricity needs.
- Its waste management program recycles 98%, diverting nearly zero waste to landfill.
- On-site catering sources locally and seasonally to reduce carbon footprint.
Located directly next door to Farnborough Airport, I did enjoy hearing the aviation facts – the world’s largest aircraft – the airbus A380 – actually debuted at Farnborough Airport during the world-famous Farnborough air show. If you are interested in aircraft there are lots of cool facts around the venue to look out for!
I also visited The Aviator Hotel located opposite, which again is a modern, high-end product, also with aviation at its core; on entering the hotel, you can see the modern airplane themed touches. The hotel is a very popular filming location for sci-fi movies!
There are 2500 hotel rooms within a ten mile radius, with the venue having excellent relationships with preferred coach companies to escort delegates to and from the centre if accommodation if required.
